Guidelines

Requirements

Submissions must meet the following criteria to be judged:

  1. Creation. If your proposed dataset is straightforward to create (a single researcher could make it in less than a week), then you should create and include the dataset with your submission. For larger-scale datasets, unimplemented ideas are fine; a prototype or small-scale demonstration is encouraged but not necessary for the award.

  2. Cost. If you don’t include your proposed dataset, the estimated cost to create or clean it should be a maximum of $300,000.

  3. Sourcing. Leveraging existing freely-available data sources is okay and encouraged. Ensure your proposed data usage is compliant with the license or usage policy provided by the creator.
